POW Score
POW Score is calculated based on product ratings, reviews, and sales performance to help you make informed purchasing decisions. Learn more ›
This Karbay 2-pack left-hand belt keeper is a solid replacement for OEM part 197258 on many Husqvarna, Craftsman, and Poulan riding mowers. It fits 42-inch and some 46-inch decks from 2001 to 2008, and reviewers note it installs easily and works just like the factory part at a lower cost. Ideal for homeowners and DIY mechanics needing to secure the mower deck belt and prevent slipping.
Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Installs quickly with basic hand tools; most users report a 10-minute job.
  • Matches OEM fit and function exactly for a wide list of compatible mowers.
  • Costs significantly less than buying two separate dealer parts.

Cons

  • Only includes the left-hand keeper; the right-hand side must be purchased separately if needed.
  • Plastic construction may not withstand heavy impacts compared to metal alternatives, but it works as designed.
  • Some users with non-listed deck models may need to double-check dimensions before ordering.
Detailed Review

This Karbay belt keeper is a simple but important component for riding mower decks. It is a small plastic bracket that sits on the left side of the deck and keeps the belt aligned on the pulley. Without it, the belt can slip off during operation, causing loss of drive or poor cutting performance. This part is designed to replace OEM number 197258 and 532197258, and it fits a huge number of Husqvarna, Craftsman, Poulan, and AYP mower models from the early 2000s.

The best part is who this is for. If you own a popular riding mower with a 42-inch or some 46-inch deck made between 2001 and 2008, chances are this keeper will fit right in. Homeowners and DIY landscapers will appreciate how easy it is to install. Just line it up with the existing holes and tighten the bolts. No need to remove the deck or mess with complex adjustments. Several reviewers confirm it bolted up perfectly on their Poulan Pro PP19A42 and Husqvarna LTH 1538.

In real-world use, this belt keeper holds the belt in place reliably. The plastic is thick and weather-resistant, standing up to grass clippings, moisture, and sun exposure. It does not warp or crack under normal mowing stress. The two-pack gives you a backup or lets you replace both left and right sides (though the right side is sold separately). Performance-wise, once installed the belt stays on track, which means fewer interruptions and a cleaner cut.

There are some minor drawbacks. This is a left-hand only keeper, so if your mower needs both sides replaced you will need to buy the right-hand counterpart separately. Also, while the plastic is durable, it is not as tough as a metal bracket. That said, it matches OEM specs exactly and has not shown weakness in normal use. Finally, you should verify your deck width and model year against the long compatibility list provided to avoid ordering the wrong part.

Overall, this Karbay belt keeper is a smart, cost-effective fix for a common mower problem. It installs fast, fits widely, and does the job without any fuss. For any DIY homeowner tired of throwing a belt mid-mow, this is a reliable and inexpensive solution. It earns a strong recommendation for its blend of compatibility, ease of use, and value.

Belt Keeper 532432520 Replacement for Craftsman

POW Score

This Viefow belt keeper is a rugged steel replacement part that stops riding mower belts from throwing off during blade engagement. It's an ideal fix for DIY homeowners dealing with worn-out plastic keepers on Craftsman, Husqvarna, or Poulan decks.
Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Fits perfectly on many popular lawn tractor models as confirmed by multiple buyers
  • No more belt derailment thanks to the keeper's solid grip and adjustability
  • Professional-quality steel build that outlasts flimsy plastic guides
  • Very easy to install with just a wrench, even for a first-time DIYer

Cons

  • Install requires careful alignment to avoid touching the pulley, which may take a few tries
  • Only compatible with specific deck models listed, so you must verify fitment before buying
  • Does not include mounting bolts, so you'll need to reuse or source your own
Detailed Review

If you own a riding mower from Craftsman, Husqvarna, or Poulan, you know the frustration of a belt that keeps flying off every time you engage the blades. The Viefow Belt Keeper 532432520 is a straightforward replacement part designed to solve that exact headache. This metal guide bolts onto your deck and holds the belt in place, preventing the sudden slack that causes derailment. It's not a glamorous upgrade, but for anyone tired of crawling under their mower to re-set a belt, it's a real time saver.

This belt keeper is best suited for homeowners and DIYers who maintain their own lawn equipment. Based on numerous positive reviews, it fits a wide variety of popular models including the Husqvarna YTH21K46, Craftsman YT3000, and many others from Poulan and Jonsered. The installation is straightforward: you simply remove the old broken keeper (or mount it in an empty hole), position the new one so the belt runs smoothly through the guide, and tighten the two bolts. Reviewers note that a little patience during adjustment is key, but once set, it holds the belt firmly during engagement and mowing.

Real-world performance is outstanding. Users consistently report that once installed correctly, the belt never comes off again. The keeper's steel construction means it won't crack or warp like many plastic OEM parts, and it stands up to the vibration and heat of regular mowing. In terms of build quality, the Viefow keeper feels substantial and well-made. It's not a precision CNC part, but for a stamped steel guide, it's more than adequate for the job.

One realistic drawback is the need for careful alignment: if you tighten the bolts while the keeper is too close to the pulley, it can rub and cause noise or wear. A few trial-and-error adjustments might be needed, but reviewers emphasize that taking it slow pays off. Also, since it only fits specific mower models, you'll want to double-check your machine's model number against the included list before ordering.

Overall, if you're dealing with a wandering belt on a compatible mower, this Viefow belt keeper is a smart, affordable fix. It's durable, easy to install, and delivers the reliability that factory plastic keepers often lack. For the DIY homeowner who wants to get back to cutting grass without fuss, this part is a no-brainer.

This left-hand belt keeper is a direct replacement for the OEM part 197258, keeping your mower deck belt properly aligned on a wide range of Craftsman, Husqvarna, Poulan, and AYP tractors with 42" and 46" decks. DIY homeowners and small-engine mechanics will appreciate the precise fit and easy bolt-on installation.
Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Direct bolt-on replacement fits many tractors without any modifications
  • Durable steel construction stands up to vibration and deck debris
  • Highly rated by users for accurate fit and easy installation

Cons

  • Only the left-hand keeper is included the right-hand version (197259) is sold separately
  • A small number of users reported the part breaking under heavy use though this may depend on belt tension or debris impact
Detailed Review

If you own a riding lawn mower with a 42" or 46" deck from Craftsman, Husqvarna, Poulan, or AYP, you already know the belt system is the heart of the cutting performance. The belt keeper (or belt guide) is a small but critical component that keeps the drive belt on the pulleys. When it bends or breaks, the belt can slip, flip, or even snap, leaving you with uneven cuts and a stalled mower. The Replacement LH Belt Keeper 197258 is an affordable, direct-fit solution for this exact problem.

This left-hand belt keeper is designed to match the OEM part for a wide range of lawn tractors manufactured between 2001 and 2008. It bolts onto the deck using the existing mounting holes, so you don't need to drill or modify anything. Once installed, the curved metal guide sits close to the belt, preventing it from walking off the pulley during turns or on uneven terrain. The steel construction feels sturdy enough for regular residential mowing and occasional light commercial use.

Performance comes down to one thing: keeping the belt exactly where it belongs. And based on user feedback, this part does that reliably. Multiple reviewers mention a perfect fit on models like the Craftsman YT4000, and the installation is straightforward even for beginners. You just need a socket or wrench to remove the old keeper and bolt this one on. No special tools, no dealer visits.

Build quality is solid for the price. The metal has a black finish that resists surface rust, though it may wear off over time if you mow in wet conditions or frequently hit brush. The only realistic drawback is that you get only the left-hand keeper. If your deck uses a right-hand keeper as well (part 197259), you'll need to order that separately. Also, one review mentioned the part breaking after some use, but it's hard to say if that was due to an overly tight belt, a hidden obstacle, or a rare defect. The majority of users report months to years of trouble-free service.

Overall, this is a smart buy for any DIY homeowner or small-engine mechanic who wants to restore their mower deck's belt tracking without paying dealer markup. Just confirm your tractor model and deck size from the compatibility list, and you'll have your mower back in action in under 15 minutes. It isn't a fancy upgrade, but it solves a real problem with minimal effort.

This genuine OEM belt keeper from Husqvarna is a simple but critical component that prevents your lawn tractor's drive belt from slipping off. It's a reliable replacement for DIY homeowners maintaining their Husqvarna, Craftsman, or Poulan mowers and offers a perfect fit without guessing.
Pros & Cons

Pros

  • OEM quality guarantees a precise fit and long service life
  • Simple installation with no special tools required
  • Prevents belt damage and reduces maintenance frequency

Cons

  • Only fits specific model numbers; you must verify your mower's model/spec/serial
  • Plastic part may eventually wear or crack under heavy use, but replacements are inexpensive
Detailed Review

The Husqvarna 589676102 Belt Keeper is a small yet vital component for anyone who owns a lawn tractor from Husqvarna or any of the brands it produces under license. This genuine OEM part is designed to hold the drive belt in place, preventing it from slipping off the pulleys during operation. If you've ever dealt with a mower that stops cutting or loses drive power, a worn or missing belt keeper is often the culprit.

This part is best suited for homeowners who maintain their own lawn tractors and want a direct replacement that fits without modification. It's also a go-to for DIYers who prefer to keep their equipment running reliably without frequent belt replacements. The installation is straightforward. You just remove the old keeper, align this one with the existing bolt hole, and tighten it down. No guessing, no filing, no hassle.

In real-world use, this belt keeper does exactly what it should. It keeps the belt tracking straight on the pulley, which reduces vibration and wear on the belt itself. That means fewer adjustments and a longer belt life. The plastic construction is durable enough for typical residential mowing seasons, and it won't rust like some metal alternatives. Plus, it's lightweight, so it adds negligible weight to the tractor.

One realistic drawback is that you absolutely must check your mower's model, spec, and serial number before ordering. This part looks similar to other belt keepers, so ordering by appearance alone can result in the wrong part. That said, if you verify compatibility, the fit is perfect. Another minor consideration is that plastic can become brittle over time if exposed to harsh UV or extreme cold, but for most users, this will last several seasons before needing replacement.

Overall, the Husqvarna 589676102 Belt Keeper is a solid, no-nonsense replacement part. It's affordable, easy to install, and made to the same specs as the original. If you're tired of your mower belt slipping off or you're doing a full belt service, this is a smart investment. I'd recommend it to any homeowner with a compatible Husqvarna, Craftsman, or Poulan tractor who values reliable operation and wants to avoid downtime during mowing season.

LEIIDEO 532130969 Mower Drive Belt Replacement

The LEIIDEO 532130969 is a solid aftermarket replacement drive belt for 42-inch mower decks, offering a precise fit on popular Husqvarna, Craftsman, and John Deere models. It's made from durable, heat and oil-resistant rubber that holds up well on residential turf. Homeowners and DIYers looking for a budget-friendly fix for their tractor mower will appreciate the hassle-free installation and reliable performance.
Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Precise fit on many 42-inch deck models – matches OEM specs exactly
  • Tough rubber material stands up to heat and abrasion from daily mowing
  • Easy to install with basic tools and a standard deck removal procedure

Cons

  • Only one review available so far – long-term durability isn't widely confirmed
  • May not fit all models listed – double-check your mower's belt length and width before ordering
  • No installation guide included – you'll need your mower's manual or online video
Detailed Review

The LEIIDEO 532130969 is a direct replacement drive belt for 42-inch lawn tractor decks. It's designed to fit a wide range of popular brands including Husqvarna, Craftsman, Poulan, John Deere, and AYP, covering hundreds of models like the Husqvarna YTH24V54, Craftsman LT2000, and John Deere X300 series. If your mower's deck belt is worn, stretched, or broken, this belt offers an affordable fix that won't break the bank.

This belt is best suited for homeowners and DIYers who maintain their own lawn equipment. It's not intended for heavy commercial use on large estates, but for a typical suburban yard it does the job well. The rubber material feels quality – it's flexible yet resists heat and oil better than some cheap store-brand belts. I like that it's built low-stretch, so you won't have to keep tightening the tensioner after a few hours of mowing.

In real-world use, installation is straightforward. You'll need to remove the deck or at least access the belt path – a process that varies by mower model. The belt fits snugly on the pulleys without any overhang. Once installed, it runs smoothly with no wobble or noise. For a basic mowing session of 1-2 hours, it holds tension well and doesn't show signs of glazing or fraying. Of course, longevity depends on mowing conditions – rocky or dusty terrain may accelerate wear.

Build quality is good for the price. The belt is 1/2 inch wide and 92.5 inches long, exactly matching OEM specs. It's not as thick as some premium OEM belts, but for residential use it's plenty durable. The one potential drawback is that it's a relatively new product with only a single review, so we don't have long-term data. And while it lists many compatible models, you should always verify your mower's specific part number – for example, some John Deere models require a 1/2x93 inch belt, and this one is 92.5 inches, which should work with a bit of adjustment, but double-check.

Overall, the LEIIDEO 532130969 is a solid value for DIYers who want a functional replacement without the OEM markup. If you're handy with a wrench and just need to get your 42-inch mower cutting again, this belt will save you money and time. For pros running a fleet of mowers, I'd suggest buying a few extras as backups. But for the average homeowner, it's a smart pick.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Exact fit for popular Husqvarna, Craftsman, and Poulan models as listed.
  • Affordable price compared to genuine OEM parts.
  • Quick and easy to install for anyone with basic mechanical skills.
  • Good build quality — feels solid and should last through mowing seasons.

Cons

  • Only compatible with left-hand belt keeper positions; verify your mower's configuration before ordering.
  • No installation instructions included, so you may need to reference a repair manual or video.
  • Fitment is limited to specific model numbers — double-check compatibility list to avoid returns.
Detailed Review

The Tormurbutl 532197258 engine belt keeper is a replacement part designed specifically for the left-hand side of select Husqvarna, Craftsman, Poulan, and AYP lawn mower models. This small but critical component holds the engine belt in place on your mower's pulleys, preventing it from slipping off or losing tension during use. If your mower's belt is wandering, making noise, or causing poor cutting performance, a worn or broken belt keeper is often the culprit.

This belt keeper is best suited for DIY lawn mower owners who prefer to handle their own repairs rather than visit a dealership. If you own one of the many compatible models like the Husqvarna LTH1538, Craftsman LT2223A2, or Poulan PXT195G42, swapping out the old keeper for this new one is a fifteen minute job at most. You just need a socket set and the ability to read a model number. There's no need for a mechanic, which saves time and money.

In real-world use, the belt keeper does exactly what it should. Once installed, it holds the belt securely in its groove so the mower deck runs smoothly. The metal construction feels sturdy enough to withstand the heat and vibration coming off the engine. While Tormurbutl doesn't trumpet the material, it's clearly up to the task for typical residential mowing. The part is also very lightweight, so it won't affect engine balance or add any noticeable weight.

The biggest advantage here is cost. At around nine dollars, it's a fraction of what a dealer would charge for the same OEM piece. The trade-off is that you need to be confident your mower is on the compatibility list. The manufacturer provides a long list of exact model numbers, but it excludes some newer or less common models. Also, there's no hardware included, so reuse your original bolts or buy them separately.

Overall, the Tormurbutl 532197258 left-hand engine belt keeper is a smart buy for homeowners who want a quick, affordable fix for a common mower issue. It's not a fancy piece of gear, but it gets the job done without fuss. If you've got a compatible tractor and the old keeper is bent or missing, this is a reliable direct replacement that will have you back to mowing in under an hour.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Exact OEM fit for popular 48-inch Husqvarna, Craftsman, and Poulan tractors
  • Durable reinforced rubber construction resists heat and wear
  • Easy DIY installation with no modifications needed
  • Smooth power transfer reduces slippage for consistent cutting

Cons

  • Limited to 48-inch deck models, not universal for all mowers
  • Some users may prefer a brand-name OEM belt for peace of mind
Detailed Review

The WADOY 532197242 mower deck belt is a direct replacement designed specifically for 48-inch lawn tractor decks from Husqvarna, Craftsman, and Poulan. If you own a Husqvarna YTH24V48, YTH22K48, YTH23K48, YTH23V48, or YTH24K48, this belt matches the original 5/8" x 138-3/4" specs exactly. It also covers OEM numbers like 197242, AYP 197242, Craftsman 33154, and more, so compatibility is broad within that deck size.

This belt is best suited for homeowners and DIYers who maintain their own lawn equipment. You don't need to be a pro mechanic to install it. The precision sizing means you can swap out a worn belt in minutes without any modifications or special tools. That's a big plus when you're trying to get the mower back in action before the weekend.

In real-world use, the reinforced core and premium rubber compound hold up well against heat buildup from friction and exposure to oil and debris. The belt maintains consistent tension, which reduces slippage and keeps blade speed steady for a clean, even cut. For heavy-duty mowing on larger properties, this durability matters. You won't have to worry about premature cracking or stretching mid-season.

Build quality is solid for an aftermarket belt. The rubber feels dense and flexible, not brittle. It's not quite as heavy-duty as some OEM belts, but for the price, it offers excellent value. The only real limitation is that it's strictly for 48-inch decks, so if you have a different size, you'll need to look elsewhere. Also, some users might prefer sticking with a Husqvarna-branded belt for absolute peace of mind, but this WADOY belt performs reliably for typical residential use.

Overall, if you need a dependable, affordable replacement for your 48-inch Husqvarna, Craftsman, or Poulan mower deck, this belt is a smart choice. It's easy to install, durable enough for regular cutting, and gets the job done without breaking the bank. For DIYers who want to keep their lawn looking sharp without overspending, this is a solid pick.

Frequently Asked Questions About Replacing the Belt on a Husqvarna Riding Lawn Mower

How do I know which belt fits my Husqvarna mower?

Check your owner’s manual for the exact part number or look at the existing belt for a number printed on it. Many belts are model-specific, so matching the part number ensures a proper fit. For example, the WADOY 532197242 belt fits Husqvarna YTH24V48 and similar models with a 48-inch deck. If you’re unsure, search by your mower’s model number to find compatible options.

What tools do I need to replace the belt on a Husqvarna riding lawn mower?

You’ll typically need a socket wrench, pliers, and possibly a screwdriver. A pair of gloves is also recommended to protect your hands from sharp edges. Some models may require a belt tensioner tool or a pry bar to release tension. Having the right tools on hand makes the job quicker and reduces frustration.

How often should I replace the belt on my Husqvarna mower?

Inspect the belt at the start of each mowing season and replace it if you see cracks, fraying, or if it feels loose. On average, a belt may last 1-3 years depending on usage and storage conditions. If you mow frequently or on rough terrain, you may need to replace it more often. Regular maintenance helps prevent unexpected breakdowns.

Can I replace the belt without removing the mower deck?

For most Husqvarna models, you’ll need to remove the deck to access the belt properly. While it’s possible on some models to replace the belt by lifting the deck and working underneath, removing the deck often makes the process easier and reduces the risk of improper installation. Follow the steps in your manual for safe removal.

Why is my new belt slipping after installation?

Slipping usually means the belt tension is incorrect or the belt isn’t seated properly on the pulleys. Make sure the tensioner pulley is adjusted correctly and that the belt follows the correct routing path. If the belt is too loose, it will slip; if too tight, it may wear out quickly. Double-check your installation against the diagram in your owner’s manual.
